Pimpin’ Frat + Aly with the launch of theQguides.com

On the 29th of September 2009, at about 730 pm, at the trendy 21 Kitchen + Bar on the bustling street that is Changkat Bukit Bintang, we saw a gathering of individuals who all had one thing in common. Their love for food.

With drinks aplenty and canapes galore, there was no shortage of elements to make the launch of theQguides.com and Fay Khoo’s Best Eats KL 2009, a success. By 830 pm the place was bursting at the seams, and even the fresh air on the balcony did nothing to cool me down.I could barely move! It was a star studded affair with A-list celebrities sipping their designer cocktails and Malaysia’s best food bloggers all under one roof.

On every table. It was everywhere!

Frat and I have a mutual understanding and common goal. To promote the F+B industry in Malaysia, to help quality restaurants be recognized for their worth, and of course, to indulge in our favourite pastime: eating.

theQguides.com is an online reservations service that quite simply, allows you to book, eat, be rewarded. I’m not talking about having to wait years and years to redeem a measly RM 10 voucher, that is only redeemable if you spend a minimum of RM100. Nope, I’m not talking about those kinda vouchers. These are cash vouchers, and they are fairly immediate.

I booked my first restaurant last week through theQGuides.com, and it was very easy. Choose your outlet, fill in the dates, the number of pax, the time, and click on BOOK. That’s it! I was one step closer to my reward. Director of theQguides Jek Tan tells me that it is possible to be rewarded with as little as 5 bookings. Hell, when I heard that I was already planning the next outing!

Anyway, back to the launch. Yes, it was glitz, it was glam, and we heard briefly from Jek, and Fay Khoo. Jek (re)introduced his alter ego, Frat Mustard, and announced there would be a Frat Mustard + Alison J Victor Tentcard competition.

Yup, a Pimp-the-Frat-Aly Challenge.

Take the card home with you, and photograph it in the most creative place, or creative way possible. The entries for this were overwhelming, and I daresay some of the pictures cracked me up!
